january 3 update

We received word from Yoen today that a teacher at the deaf school has offered to let Soporn live with her. There are several other deaf students living at this house so Soporn with have new friends in the deaf commuity. The teacher is asking for $140 a month. Soporn will receive three meals a day and 1000 reil (25 cents) a day for spend money. The house is located near the hospital. If she would need medical care for any reason Sophy (her teacher) will pay for it as long as it is not more than $25. Anything above that we will cover. This is about twice what we had expected to pay but should be worth it since this seems to be a good woman and will help her get around as well as help her with life skills needed to be independent. We had arranged to sponsor another student so that Soporn would have a room mate but that girl has found housing elsewhere. Therefore we will just sponsor Soporn because of the cost difference. It's quite amazing how things work themselves out.

Soporn's aunt, Lek Tham, will bring her to Phnom Penh on the fifth of January. Yoen will take them shopping for a bicycle as well as toiletries and other necessities for school. School starts on January 8. We will post pictures as we get them.

We plan to visit with them on Skype on the 5th. This will be the first time Hilary sees her family since returning in July. Should be fun!!
