We are planning a fundraiser to help with the property purchase for Hilary's sister Thoeun who is currently being supported by extended family.. It is a small piece that will help her have a better life. The property is adjacent to her extended family. It measures approximately 70 x 100 meters which is a good size for her and her husband to farm allowing them to support themselves. The cost of the property is $1600. Bernie Krisher's organization AAfC has purchased the property because only Cambodian citizens are permitted to own property. We didn't want to just give it to Thoeun. If she proves responsible with it at some point we will move it to her name. Until them we will leave it in Bernie's name. We had considered getting citizenship for Hilary but she would need to learn Khmer before that can happen. Should Hilary become eligible for citizenship we will pursue that and put it in her name. For now Bernie has purchase it for us and we are paying him. We still $1000.

The fundraiser will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2009 at Siba Market Caffe in Cranberry Twp. All are welcome to join us for hot munchies and karaoke.
